PISCO designs its research program to inform marine management and policy questions. The consortium uses multiple science-to-policy channels to ensure that accurate scientific information reaches decision-makers. This includes working on advisory panels and partnering with agencies on topics such as climate change and marine protected areas, among other activities. See http://www.piscoweb.org/policy . The policy needs for information about ocean acidification are rapidly emerging. We illustrate how PISCO science works to inform this issue by tracking how different research activities apply directly to very specific policy management questions.
