The Partnership for Interdisciplinary Studies of Coastal Oceans (PISCO) is a consortium of four universities along the U.S. West Coast. PISCO scientists at all four campuses jointly develop and conduct the research, training, and outreach programs, while each campus also contributes its own specialties and areas of emphasis.
Oregon State University (OSU)
PISCO scientists at OSU conduct research in nearshore oceanography, ecological interactions, physiology, population replenishment (recruitment), and the diversity and structure of ecological communities. Many of PISCO's policy and outreach initiatives are headquartered at OSU. More info.
Stanford University
PISCO scientists at Stanford University's Hopkins Marine Station (HMS) specialize in population genetics, ecological physiology, and biomechanics. Summer training courses are also offered at HMS. More info.
University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB)
PISCO scientists at UCSB study nearshore oceanography, ecological interactions, population replenishment (recruitment), and community diversity and structure. Many of PISCO's technology and information management activities are based at UCSB. More info.
University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC)
PISCO scientists at UCSC conduct research in nearshore oceanography, ecological interactions, population replenishment (recruitment), population genetics, and the effects of marine reserves. More info.
